General Issues

How much time does it take to conduct a Usability Test?

An average usability test has a throughput time of 2-3 weeks. Expert Reviews of software or web applications take 1 to 2 weeks.
The Web Express Review is the fastest way to get feedback for your site - you receive a detailed report via email within 24 hours.

What do you need for an Expert Evaluation of my website?

We need access to the user interface of your product - usually the internet address is enough. Evaluations of screen designs, storyboards or mockups are possible as well.

What if my website changes during the evaluation process?

No problem. Any changes during the evaluation process will be integrated, documented and considered separately. For larger changes, the two resulting versions of the product can be compared in order to point out the differences between them.

Is it possible to evaluate only a single part of the website?

Yes, we do that frequently. Of course, only specific aspects or features can be evaluated as well. These evaluations can be carried out fast and at a reasonable price.

Is it possible to watch the tests of my software/website live?

Yes, you are invited to do so. Our usability lab offers the possibility to look over the shoulder of the subjects while they are working with your software/website. In our specially equipped observation room, the testing can be followed via a one-way mirror and a sound & video link.
Furthermore, the eye movements of the subjects are displayed live on the screen as well.

To which extend is it possible for me to decide, what will be tested?

You can specify whether your entire product or only certain aspects of it shall be tested. You decide, which aspects are tested with priority. We help you to work out the tasks with which the subjects will be faced (the test script). In general, we first test the most important use cases of your website or software. Towards the end of the testing we also check rarer and less relevant use cases.

Is it possible to visit the testing rooms before my website/software test starts?

Yes of course. You can come any time to get an idea of our usability lab and ask for all details regarding your test.

Is it possible to conduct a test on-site my company?

Yes. We have a mobile usability lab including eye camera with which we can conduct all offered tests in your company locally.

How do I get subjects to check my website/software?

We have an extensive database with over 4000 registered subjects to be able to put together the optimal sample for your test. Our experts can advise you how to specificate your target audience and then recruit them for your test.

Which subjects will participate in my test?

According to specific characteristics that you define with our experts, we are recruiting an optimal sample from our extensive database. If you wish, you can provide subjects on your own; otherwise, we will do it for you.

How many subjects do I need for my test?

Depending on the size and scope of the website/software, the number of required subjects varies. In general, the more material we test, the more subjects we need. And of course, the more subjects we test, the more problems can be identified and the more reliable are the results.
On average, we test websites with 10 subjects per target audience.

How do I get my results?

Usually we present the results in a workshop. In this workshop, we present the identified problems including the presentation of highlight videos and come up with our solutions for these problems. You will get the results in written form as well. On request, our experts create walkthrough videos in which the identified problems are defined step by step.

In addition, you can also order the entire videos of the tests on DVD.

I need help in developing a software. How can Interface Consult help me?

We can design the complete user interface for you: Our services vary from the development of design prototypes to a completed design of masks and processes. Furthermore, we develop and design all icons and interaction elements your software needs.

How much time does it take to develop a user interface for a web application?

The duration of the development can be estimated after a personal consultation.

We are currently developing an application and I am not sure whether our design concept is appropriate. How can Interface Consult support me?

We offer short-term counseling for specific issues - quick and non-bureaucratic. It is also possible that we test your design concept with subjects and, where necessary, modify or redesign it.

I am planning a relaunch of my website - what are the first steps to optimize the usability?

The main point here is that you take your potential customers into account right from the start and involve them in the development of your website. We support you with reliable usability engineering methods.

The implementation of my project has not even started yet - can I still do something for the usability already?

Basically, it's best to use usability methods as early as possible, favored right from the planning of a product. Is there a usability seminar in my town - in which places can I book courses?

Of course, each of our courses can be held in your company as well - anywhere in Europe.

How many participants do I need to book a course for my company?

The seminar costs for a company are charged flat rate per seminar. The maximum number of participants is 15 people.

What services can you offer for a smaller budget?

For smaller budgets, we recommend Expert Reviews and hourly consultations. There are sponsorships available in some regions (e.g. WIFI-Sponsorships).

Is it possible to combine services you offer?

Yes. In order to achieve the best possible usability, we recommend combining several of our services, e.g. Expert Review and Usability Test. We advise you on the best course of action.
